Assuming high level = logic 1 then the first frame is a 1 not 2 and the error (if there is one ) is propagated in the following lines?

The top line should be IPG = 1 RPM = X, and the following lines IPG =  2 and RPM = 6 then IPG = 2 and RPM = C.

Youíre right; there is a bug in the figure. As depicted it shows IPG binary values of 1 and 2 which translates to levels 8 and 4 (bit confusing but have a look at the table on pg28).

What I really should do is move the bits to depict 2 and 4, which is IPG level 4 and 2.

The reason for this confusing mapping of IPG level to bit pattern is that straight binary values donít work. Eg

2 = 0100 (LSB on left and transmitted first)

8 = 0001

Even though level 2 has priority over level 8 the level 2 node it would drop out at bit 2 because the 8 has a 0 at that position.

Note that interrupts have been removed form the protocol in order to make it simpler.

I am open to reinstating them though if it's thought necessary.
