#00153, Shapes of Sand

It's the fine herring bone affect of the ripples in the sand that caught my eye here. I also liked the way the fairly dominant lines of these ripples become almost invisible when they enter the water.

When printing this neg it's a real juggling act to maintain these lines without letting them get too heavy. It's also very easy to let the rock become too dark and turn into a large black mass. So why not just crop it out?

I feel that the rock gives some context to the shot, giving viewers a better idea of what they are looking at. I also like the fine meniscus line where the water meets the rock and the way the rock's shadow allows you to see into the water more clearly.
