#00156, Little Bright Fern
After several hours at the bottom of Kondalilla falls I was pretty tired and really just wanted to get the climb out of the gorge over with, so I could relax in the car.
However, on the walk out, I spotted this lovely little fern next to the path.
Its foliage was much lighter than the surrounding plants, and the almost symmetrical arrangement of the three fronds made for a very pleasing composition.
Because the path wound through the rain forest there was very little light filtering through so, with a small aperture and allowing for reciprocity, I calculated a one-minute exposure.
As is often the case with foliage, it looks dead still until you observe closely, and this was no exception. There was slight movement caused by an almost imperceptible breeze.
I had to wait for ages for the breeze to die and give me a minute of still air in which the fern didn't move. Of course at the start of the minute you have no idea what will happen during the exposure, so there is some luck involved.
