#00227, Graham on Grandstand
Graham Opie, Liz Poon and I were camping on The Grandstand, overlooking Lady Northcotes Canyon and Albina Lake. Not long before I had taken Albina Storm (#00226), I was happy with the day's work and just sitting on a rock when I noticed that Graham was still chasing images and had climbed to the top of a nearby outcrop.
It's not really possible to grab candid shots with a large format camera although I came close with this one. I had the shot setup in just a few seconds but still asked Graham to hold the pose just in case.
I just love this image mostly because it pretty well sums up the stereotypical landscape photographer, alone, facing the elements etc etc.
It's true though that moments like these, high in the mountains with a sunset, tend to make it all worthwhile.
