#00248, Aragunnu Dawn

I was camping at Mimosa Rock NP with some fellow photographers including a close friend Joe Cali.

We all spent most of the "magic hours" taking photographs, it's a great spot and the time was quite productive for us all.

I had recently switched from FP4+ to TMX and this outing was the first time I was to use the new film in for real, ie. not just testing.

Most of the trip's photos were no good, there was a distinct double image on almost all the negatives. I later put this down to the film being thinner than FP4 and settling in the film holder midway through the exposure (most of my exposures were several minutes in length).

After this experience I got into the habit of tapping the film holder before I inserted it into the camera.

Fortunately this neg was just about perfect. This print won me the Ilford Open B&W print award at the 1997 ACT AIPP awards.
