#00342, Seabed in Stone

It was the fossilised ripples of an ancient seabed that caught my eye here, and I at first I made a tighter image of the canoe-shaped rock to feature the ripples more.

After that I walked around for a while looking for something more. I found another photo, then returned to this location.

I decided that my first attempt was too tight, so made this image with more room in front of the rock. This tends to make the entire rock (and it's canoe shape) the main subject, rather that just the ripples.

It also shows some nice texture on the rock's front which in turn contrasts with the smoothness of the flowing water.

I would have liked to give a little more room above the waterfall but there was very bright overcast sky just out of the frame. Including the sky would have improved the composition, but it would not have added any useful information, and would have been too bright to print well.

Note the small rock just poking out of the water to left of centre, this it the subject of image Florence Detail (#00351).
