#00355, Wangi Dinghy

It can get pretty hot and steamy in the Northern Territory, even in the winter which is when this photo was made.

This makes photography very uncomfortable, the lens can fog up and so can the ground glass, lupe, and your eye glasses as you breath under the focusing cloth.

Still, that's the name of the game I guess.

This dingy was chained up in the bushes on the side of Wangi Falls (pronounced like want-guy but without the "t") that people don't usually go to. Presumably it's used for "management" purposes by the rangers.

This was not one of those photos that just hit me with the right angle, as some do. I just figured that, with the interesting situation and the great light on the weathered aluminium, there should be an image here. It was just a matter of finding it.

I tried all sorts of compositions that included the entire boat but they didn't work. I was getting hotter and sweatier but persevered.

Eventually I moved in closer to fill the frame with the boat, losing part of the right-hand side in the process, but that doesn't matter because we've all seen plenty of boats and the brain knows what should be there.
