#00404, Two Trees
"Two Trees", surely I can do better that that!
Well actually I can't, sometimes a photo defies a title that imparts my thoughts or adds something. This is one such image.
Nearly thirty years ago I was standing on this same spot, the trees were probably smaller then, I don't really remember. But I do remember that there was no development here, just a dirt car park.
In 2003 however it's a different story. The car park is now bitumen, and on multiple levels with a toilet. Just up the road a huge resort development in under way, and on the point in the background, lie some large houses.
I could ignore most of that for this photo, but the houses could not be excluded from the frame. A shot-ruiner just a few years ago, a non-event now because I scan my negatives and "Photoshop" it from there. Removal of unwanted houses is no problem.
Is this cheating? No, not in pictorial or "art" photography. In a past life I could have retouched the houses in my darkroom, and no-one would complain, the fact that I now do it on a computer does not matter.
