This rock formation, and the surrounding beach, were washed with waves every minute or so. I preset my exposure then dropped onto the sand as a largish wave receded.

In seconds I had the tripod set, camera aligned and focussed, and had taken the shot. Then I jumped clear before the next wave hit.
