For days I'd been trying to get a good composition with one of these black fungi, with no luck. They are actually quite dull, and usually live in dark places, not a good combination for photography.

On this occasion the fungus was living in a fairly open area next to a stream, and it's host was a beautiful moss-encrusted branch. The fungus had no real colour, but I wet it to at least bring out the shape.
