The amount of hardware required to photograph this dragon fly was way out of proportion to the subject.
With a 300mm f2.8 lens, a 1.4 converter, extension tube, and an old Canon F1N camera with motordrive, I was packing about 4 kilos of equipment. All to photograph something that probably weights a tenth of a gram.
Why all that gear?, the abovementioned combination allowed me to photograph the insect from about two metres away, quite convenient when the subject is placed in the center of a stream.
