This photo illustrates how important it is for a landscape photographer to be on the spot at the right time.
I was camping at the Devil's Marbles in Northern Territory, having breakfast under an overcast sky. The light was terrible and getting a good photo was the last thing I expected.
However at 7:30 the sun broke through the clouds and transformed the scene. I grabbed my camera and rushed to the nearest marble, a distance of only about 50m. I had time to take 7 photos, each with different compositions. Then, at 7:33, the light was gone.
I only got this shot because I was camping at the scene, the nearest motel would have been more comfortable, but I find that, in general, being comfortable and getting good photos do not go hand in hand.
