This procession was nearly a metre in length, and I did photograph the entire thing, but the result was not a very strong photo so I narrowed my view to just a couple of the caterpillars.

I only had a couple of minutes before they reached the ground. Once there I took my eyes of them for a short time and they disappeared, presumably dispersing into the undergrowth.
