I'd been watching this fence for a few days while we camped nearby on a headland at Wyadup. On several occasions I walked over, but either the light was no good, or there was a driving wind.
On this morning things didn't look too promising either, but at least the wind had dropped. There was a patchy cloud cover and I knew that this often leads to interesting light when the sun breaks through onto various parts of a scene.
I set up the camera and waited. Initially I was looking for the sun to illuminate Canal Rocks (in the background, framed by the fence), and in fact that happened on two occasions, but it didn't look as good as I thought it would.
Then I could see a sunlit patch heading my way from my right. When the light hit my location, and lit up the dry grass, I knew I had my shot.
